FLASH ⚡REPORT FROM THE GAP DĒMĬSTəFĪED: CALENDLY USERS BE AWARE
Changes to Gmail will impact your calendar invites.
Do you use a scheduling tool like Calendly? Do you use Gmail as your email service? This flash report is for you.
Thank you for being a subscriber! The first edition drops on June 5th. One of the bonuses of subscribing to the Gap Demystified is the Flash Report, where I share need-to-know info and resources throughout the month between editions.
Whether you use a scheduling tool like Calendly, Acuity, or Boomerang or use Gmail as your email provider, a recent change will impact your calendar invite experience.
Gmail is implementing increased anti-spam protections to reduce unsolicited invitations.
Google Calendar will automatically add meetings to an invitee's calendar if the sender has previously interacted with the invitee in Gmail. Before this change, the invite appeared as an appointment on their calendar. But now, if you have never interacted with the invitee in Gmail, the invite will remain in the inbox.
⚡
Now, the recipient has to click ‘I know the sender’ and ‘Yes’ to the invite for it to appear on their calendar.
This also applies to you as a recipient if you use Gmail. Unless you have scheduled time or exchanged emails with an individual’s email in the past, the invite will no longer automatically hit your calendar.
